As an integral part of our communities, music and dance have remained despite attempted policies and forced assimilation. Music and dance are used in community and public events all over and are alive and well today. In this section let’s explore, sing and dance with culturally relevant materials representing First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.

Learning from the land is about more than just outdoor fun. It is about connecting to the world around us and discovering what it must teach us, how it talks to us and how it takes care of everyone around it. Storytelling has always been an integral part of our way of life for First Nation, Inuit and Métis peoples. They bring us together, share a past, explain the inexplicable, instruct, and powerful stories can carry a great impact on children. Language is a major foundation for culture. Words hold the knowledge that has been amassed for centuries in Indigenous communities.
